Contest #1 - The Judging Process!

Alllright, Archaic Twilight Followers! As of yesterday, Saturday, June 7th, The AT Character Design Contest has officially closed, and as I had mentioned before, the Judging Process would take the course of the following week. Well, here we are, Day 1 of the Judging Process. So then, how do we Judge these results? We don't! The Members become certified Judges in the decision for who they believe are the winners of the Character Design Contest!

Simply put, anyone and everyone can Judge, including the participants in the Contest, however obviously they cannot vote for themselves.

Now, the Contest Judging Process is simple; by asking me, (Krimm) through MSN or Email, I will send a file transfer of the AT Judging Package, which contains all nine (9) of the Entries for the contest. After reading the rules provided below, you will then select your top favorites in the blank document provided, and then send the modified file back to me.

Now, the Rules are as follow:

1) This is Private Voting. You simply return your modified document to me, and no one else will know who you voted for. It's your choice whether or not you tell who you voted for.
2) Select your top 3 based on DESIGN details in their costume and the chatacter's originality, DO NOT vote depending on whether it's colored, pretty, or 'I just like this one'. Please give a reason.
3) If you are a contest participant, you MAY NOT vote for your own. I will be able to see who voted for their entry, and that person will be disqualified from the contest, including their entry. So simply put, don't do it.

Next, is how the Judging Process functions:

1) You must first ask me, Krimm, for the Contest Package, in return I will send a folder holding all of the entries and a blank Note Pad Document where you will record your vote.
2) After reading the rules thoroughly, and looking for the various entries for a few moments deciding which design is the most unique and original, you will place down your TOP 3 choices in the Note Pad Document, providing a small sentence about your REASONING as to why you chose it.
3) After Steps 1 and 2 are complete, you will make sure you have saved the Note Pad Document with your choices, and return the folder back to me via E-Mail or PM.

Now let the Contest voting begin! You may ask your friends to vote, but please don't pressure them into choosing your entry.

The Set-back and The Rebound

title inspired by 30 Seconds to Mars's track names xD many 'The's.

Anyway, so as one or two of you may know, recently my computer was completely reformatted without my knowledge, because my step dad apparently 'knew' that there was a virus. Well, in that reformat I basically lost everything I had been working on, from AT to my personal novel, and every program, just..everything.

The Set-Back was, to my knowledge, was that I had NO known backed up file of any of v2.0 AT things. Basically, for 2 days I was pretty much positive that I was done; about 3 months of hardcore work on this new RPG just vanished before my eyes.

I was still pretty sure about discontinuing this project, until this morning, May 31st, 2009. While skimming through my many flash drives trying to find any old files I could, I actually came across a file that had about 1/2 of 2.0.

The Rebound is, in fact, that I now have about 1/2 of the work I originally did. This is still a set-back, but has encouraged me to continue the project. Due to this, numerous changes will be made to the RPG System, mainly because primarily all of the files I have aren't of the battle system. Regardless, we shall see where we end up soon enough.

As promised, I still aim for the opening to be June 21st.

That's it for now.

Contest #1~!

Archaic Twilight: Contest #1

Alright, welcome to the third official update of Archaic Twilight~! Delayed a couple of times, yes; however I promise you that it was well worth the wait! This update, as mentioned prior, is the FIRST official Contest of Archaic Twilight! Now how can there be a contest SO early into production? Well I’ll tell you how; because it has NOTHING to do with the RPG! That’s absolutely right, no effects, no monsters, none of the things that might actually require thought into something that you really don’t care about~!

So then… what IS the contest of exactly?
Introducing: Contest #1: Character Designing!

How does this work? Simple!

This Contest is NOT about to put you through a bunch of writing and thought process on your Character’s description or personality, rather, their PHYSICAL appearance. Yep, that’s right; you’ll be DRAWING your Character, and this contest will be judged and ranked determined by your Character’s uniqueness, concept, details, and outfit. For all the people who are like ‘Ewww, drawing contest’, the Characters WILL NOT be rated on their drawing ability or style.

Rules are as follow:

1st:
Stick figures ARE NOT allowed. If anything, just a generic flat design is permitted, and TRACING is permitted as well, however you may not trace Goku and call him your Character; you can only trace for poses and/or anatomy, not a character design. You MUST give credit to the artist or resource that you got the pose/anatomy from.

2nd:
Look-a-likes are still lame. Even if they were popular back in the day, originality and uniqueness are keys now. Your Character can have a faint resemblance of a Character from a manga, anime, or something of the sorts; however anything that is a direct rip-off will incur point reduction in the judging process.

3rd:
Requesting other artists that you know, or commissioning artists from deviantArt to draw your Character with details you provide is ACCEPTED, however you MUST give full credit to the original artist for the drawing, however custom details and your Character’s design will still remain copyright to you, of course. Having someone else draw your character will not be counted against you, so long as the design is originally yours.

Character Design Rules:

1st:
Head-shots are not permitted. Full-body shots are required, from head to toe. Again, flat designs are permitted.

2nd:
The drawing/image must be clear and understandable; blurred images or smudgy images (from a scanned image) will not be accepted if they are totally unclear.

3rd:
The design must be by you, and no one else! No Characters that other people designed!

Finally, the Conclusion~!

There you go! Got the rules understood? Are you ready to get designing? Good! Or, if you’re lacking a bit of motivation, then have no fear, the prizes are here~!

The Prizes feature an array of bonuses, only ONE of them dealing with the RPG. Why? To make the contest a bit more universal, so you can still participate even if you won’t be playing in the RPG. So here we go, behold, the prize roster~!

Prize #1: Pulsar Heart
What’s this? Of course the number one prize of the contest relates to the RPG! Pulsar Heart is a unique Character-integrated effect that gives you an in-battle boost that could very well change the entire outcome of the match! This item is one of three legendary items featured in the RPG, so by simply winning this prize you’ll be in the roster line for another special event!

Prize #2: Design Feature
So what’s the point of this being a designing contest? Your Character design will be FEATURED in the AT banner, which will be uploaded upon the forum’s opening! Lame, I know right? Not! Your Character will be SPECIALLY commissioned by an artist of DeviantArt, which, for you illiterate people, means I will be personally paying for it. The commissioned art of your Character will then, as mentioned, will be featured in the forum’s new banner. This, like the first prize, will only be awarded to the winning design. Your design will not only be featured in the banner, but you’ll also be recorded in the hall of fame!
(Details regarding the artist for the commission will be posted at a later date.)

Prize #3: Award of Significance
The 3rd Prize, which will be awarded to the 2nd Place runner-up, (along with a +1,500 Gill bonus, depending on if they choose to accept it) means that he/she will have their original design showcased in the Hall of Fame, and they will be awarded the ‘Award of Significance’, which entitles them to a custom User-Title, and the Award for their Character’s Profile (again, if they choose to participate).

MOTIVATED YET?! I certainly am! Hall of Fame, Legendary RPG Items, AND a paid commission for your Character to be featured in the new Banner? I’m thinking this is a must-participate!

Contest Entries can be sent to me via:
Email: Krimm_Twilightus@hotmail.com
MSN: Krimm_Twilightus@hotmail.com
PM at the Infi.net Forums: http://infinet.proboards.com/index.cgi

Alright, now go get designing!

All Entries must be sent in by: June 6th, 12:00pm North America Central Time

The Precious Memories...

Alright.

So you've all waited this week for the update of Archaic Twilight; and I am here to give it to you. I originally intended on updating something about the RPG, a little juicy tidbit about the forum's authentic prototype battle system... however, I have decided against so. While talking and discussing my RPG history with my friend, I have chosen to tell you about the real meaning behind this new RPG. More or less something more insightful about the meaning behind the next version. So are you ready? Below the posted line will be spoilers regarding the forum's Storyline which I had intended to hold until the forum's unveiling.

---------Spoiler Line----------------------------------------------------

I have been through a LOT with RPGs, more so than some of you realize. One or two might fully understand this obsession of mine, however RPGs have been there for me since I was in 6th grade, ever since I first joined a Megaman RPG that is STILL running. Ever since then, I've been through many life experiences, however RPGs have ALWAYS been there for me, regardless of my situation. Whether I was happy, creative, depressed, hyper, I was almost always doing something with RPGs. It all started with Infi.net, and has only expanded since then.

Everytime, with every new RPG, I've tried to create something REVOLUTIONARY, something SPECTACULAR, something that will wow the crowd and try and keep them enertained with what I've created. Infact, I spent 2 years on the first version of AT, I migrated through about 5 different forums for AT, and it changed SO much, and in the end I trashed nearly everything I had designed. What am I left with? about 50 Word Documents of various sytems of each version. Because each project I had taken wasn't what I wanted, hadn't acheived the heights I intended, or ended up boring me, I always trashed them and moved onto the next project. And in that whole process, I forgot the meaning in RPGs; to have fun with friends and to explore your own creativity.

And through the realization of this, I finally come to the conclusion of this new RPG. This may be the reimagining of Archaic Twilight, however really, it's something else entirely; a collection of my memories.

Momoko, an old staff member of Infi.net that I'm sure many of you are familiar with had come to me, and basically smacked me for giving up another project. We talked a bit about what was going on, and thus the new AT was created. An entirely new storyline was created that detailed perfectly to the fitting of this new version. Each and every system is a refurbished and redesigned version of my old RPGs; even the universe the RPG is based in is a reflection of every RPG up until this point. Worlds of Infi.net, Archaic Twilight, worlds of RPGs that I never even made forums of!

The RPG is set in a universe that is comprised of random fragments of memories and dreams, each area in the RPG something entirely different. Peaceful meadows to haunted manors, castles of doomsday prophecies to the very River of Death. I won't go too far into the setting of the RPG as it is fully interwoven with the Plotline that has been created... The RPG is a collection of my most precious memories, where people can share their heart and memories to further expand and enhance the forum.

This Archaic Twilight, while it is reimagining of the first version, it is something entirely different at the same time.

I hope now you all understand my purpose. And of course, I look forward to seeing you all on the forum in June!

and that's the conclusion. See ya next time!

The Official Blog

Well, this is the big update? Here's a News Blog that'll be kept up to date regarding everything from Archaic Twilight, to Forum Updates and RPG Progress! This way, rather than continuously adding images to the main forum and the Side-Bar, I can instantly keep you all up-to-date.

Through this Blog you'll all be able to post and respond, and even track this blog to gain the updates, so if you're interested, please do so. I plan to update atleast once a week with new information relating to the Forum. So for those of you who are interested in the next installment of Archaic Twilight, then this should hopefully keep you preoccupied until the Summer Solstice, also known as the desired opening date for the RPG.

Forum wise, I have been redesigning the layout and upgrading the Skin in various sections. The Forum's layout remains the same with a few subtractions and new additions, hopefully giving it a new flare. Various icons and graphics are being modified and replaced, also improving the skin.

As for an update regarding the RPG, I have no news to report, or news I want to share that is. Production has begun and I'm beginning to write down a detailed manuscript of the new Plotline. Keep in mind this story has been in development for a little over a Month now, so this is definitely going to be interesting.

That's it for this week's update! But keep your eyes open! Next Friday I will be posting a special update regarding the first insight revealed on 2.0's RPG! See you all there!

oh, and comments are welcome~!
